Because religion uses the writings about God bound between two
leather covers as "The Word" of authority and direction giving, instead of the
"Living Word"...Jesus...the Word made flesh, dwelling in our hearts, to make the
written word live renders the written word dead.
"For the Holy Spirit to come was just the same ALL, and FULFILLING of
the whole gospel, as a Christ to come was the all, and the fulfilling of the
Law. The Jew therefore with his Old Testament, not owning Christ in all his
process to be the truth and life, and fulfiller of their Law, is just in the
same apostasy, as the Christian with the New Testament, now owning the Holy
Spirit in all his operations, to be his only light, guide and governor. For as
all types and figures in the Law were but empty shadows without Christ's being
the life and power of them, so all that is written in the gospel is but dead
letter, unless the Holy Spirit in man be the living reader, the living remember,
and the living doer of them." (William Law)
The religionists argue that this is a dangerous theology. They think
that if God's people are left to their own hearing and doing by the Spirit, they
will wander off into great error...as if they themselves are errorless in their
interpretation of scripture and doctrine. How can they surmise this when they
themselves refuse God's appointed Teacher to lead the way? Following their way
of believing has left the world with a myriad of different religious
denominations with some differences in Bible interpretation and in some degree
of opposition to each other, while all claiming that what they believe and teach
is "the truth." Which is more dangerous? Which is more divisive, the religious
system or the Jesus system He gave us to lead us into all truth.
Though all of these denominations disagree upon what some scriptures
say, all within Christendom agree that the leather bound book about God is the
only ground of unity. This misguided belief is one reason the family of God is a
segregated fractured fairytale with all of its leaders preaching some form of
fairy-tail as the gospel. Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:3 the only ground of the
believer's unity: "Endeavoring the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." It
is the Spirit who baptizes all members into one body, not all coming into
agreement on the written word about God.
If we keep the unity of the Spirit, free from our religious opinions,
then in God's timing, by His power, we will come into "the unity of the Faith."
Not because some denominated seminarian has out argued another denominated
seminarian and brought his doctrines to a place of prominence and acceptance by
the power of his reasoning, but because the Spirit has brought an agreement of
what is truth to our hearts and minds. If we allowed this to happen we would
find ourselves...as Peter did...in unity and fellowship with people we thought
were unclean and to be avoided. Religion has established a denominational
letter-based unity that has resulted in a greater division of Christ's Body by
the corralling of like minded robots into denominated segregated buildings
teaching them their denominated doctrines.
Does that mean that i have a dislike for and disrespect the
Bible...NO...but when we limit God to our limited fallible human understanding
of the scripture, we are resisting God with every ounce of our being. It is the
Spirit that we must take the understanding of scripture from. The scripture is
only of meaning and value as the lead us into the same relationship that Jesus
had with His Father. See Romans 8: 29.
Hebrews 4:12-13,
says; For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged
sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it
judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is
hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes
of him to whom we must give account. It is obvious from the context that this
passage is not talking about the Bible, as we have been religiously taught, but
Jesus the "Living Word" of God.
Without the "Living Word", any assembling is a gathering around the
"written word" where man-influencing and spiritual manipulation is the norm. It
is a dead thing that is lifeless instead of being enlivened by the Spirit by
being led by the Spirit. A living faith in the Living Word will confound our
religious man-made doctrines, rules and regulations.
We need to cast of the the religious grave-clothes of religiosity,
and yield to the resurrection power of the resurrected Christ, and follow the
life giving Spirit as He leads us to the fullness of TRUTH.
